The first impression to me was that it’s not village as in my country it is a city but with few inhabitant. The village is clean with all the essential needs infrastructures (like, roads, electricity, clean water, etc) for people to have a good life. As we went through visiting the exhibition center where all history is kept for better know how the village has changed I really learnt the rural revitalization meaning. This village is a good example of how you can change a village without compromising the environment but improving the life of inhabitant of the village. The big lesson for me is how good president Xi Jinping is; I think all presidents should think like him on how to fight against poverty by going in rural areas to see what people need. The other thing I learnt and which I can bring in my country is the way every family in front of their house have a small bio vegetable garden this is the good way of fighting malnutrition without spending money to go to market to buy.

In few words it was a good trip. I enjoyed so much climbing mountains and seeing people who are friendly. I cannot finish without say thanks to President Xi Jinping and the Fujian Province government for all effort to fight against poverty. I also want to appreciate  IUE-CAS  for giving us the privilege to know historical places in Fujian Province. I also say thanks to my friends who participated to the trip hope we will have other opportunities. Thank you all.

It was my first visit to a rural area in China. Visit to Junying village reminds me about my home country Nepal’s Illam District Tea garden. It is a district largely covered in tea bushes with a hill town right beside a plantation enjoying views of pristine landscapes made up of sloping tea gardens, mountain streams, dense natural forests, holy sites and a unique culture. Both of the areas have a long history of tea gardening and tourism as well.

We were introduced to Junying village by officials in the Center. Based on his briefing and photographs in the center, I realized people’s lifestyle in Junying village was not satisfactory; they were living below 200 Yuan per year 30 year ago. Traditional tea gardening and agriculture was only the means of livelihood.  They lack  roads, health facilities, education, telecommunication network, etc.  Even though this village is located in Xiamen, one of the 4 Special Economic Zones in China is deprived of connectivity; they were isolated from the rest of the world.

In 1986, Vice governor of Fujian Xi Jinping (current President) visited Junying village, he visited the local peoples house and interacted with them, he noticed people are lacking nutritious meals, roads, etc. Then he advised people to plant more tea for livelihood . And then they expanded their tea garden, planted more fruit trees and initiated an afforestation program in the mountain. Again after 10 year Xi Jinping visited the village saw expansion in tea garden and provided aalleviating poverty fund for villagers to build tea processing factories. After its operation the whole villager’s life  changed. Now they are able to export tea to the international market.

Today’s prosperity of Junying Village gives us insight that leadership with the far sight vision can uplift the living standard of people within a short period of time .  We observed within 30 years’ time interval from traditional tea gardening and tourism there is a drastic change in education, health, road and lifestyle of people living in Junying village.

As the so called “village” could match up with some minor cities in my home country. The access road to the place was okay (although very narrow and looks dangerous because of the terrain of the place which was occupied with mountains and hilly slopes), the houses there were beautifully constructed (looking like typical houses in the city), there was electricity and other basic amenities which makes the village more attractive to live in (If I desire to live there in the future). Thanks to President Xi Jinping and the Fujian Province government for all these provided amenities.

I have several interesting experiences to share but I will only be highlighting some major ones I considered more interesting.

1.  The exhibition building (which was the first place we visited upon our arrival) where past and present histories are displayed is a beautiful place and well equipped with facilities to explain to visitors properly the history of Junying village and the efforts made by President Xi Jinping in the transformation of the village into what it is now.

2. In this same building, one of the facilities that fascinated me the more was the one displaying the history of each year when rotated with hand to that particular year as shown in one of the pictures attached below.

3. I was fascinated to know and see via pictures how people lives and standard of living have improved over the years through the economy of massive tea production.

4. Our visit to other places in the village such as the highest point of the village, the security house, the military vehicle, the olden house of the village head, the sweet potato store house and so on was really exciting for me. They were really beautiful places to behold.

5.  The welcoming attitude and the joy of the dwellers of Junying village was really encouraging. I love the organization and the friendliness of the market women selling in the neighborhood.

In summary, the trip was an interesting and memorable one forme as I learnt more things about China and Fujian Province.

Junying Village became a rapidly developing rural area, which due to President Xi Jinping's guidance and advice, is experiencing modernism without leaving the traditional behind, generating well-being in its inhabitants, which is expressed in the kindness of its people.

It was exciting to visit the small museum in the area where you will appreciate this part of  history. It is possible to realize the tremendous effort that the town people have made for years and the immense benefit that the government's work is generating.

Looking at their faces with joy and respect when they introduce their products, looking at their orchards where they grow their food and source of livelihood, was undoubtedly an honor. Visiting the guard fort and the tea farms was also a great experience.

There were many other pleasant things in the place, but among them my favorite was that there is an atmosphere of friendship, cooperation, and benefit to the common good in the town. Without a doubt visiting the place was an inspiring experience, effortless to get to, but very difficult to leave, and always wanting to return.

To be honest, when we were going to Junying village, i was expecting to see a place build With tents and having a very low level of modern building. Buttot my surpriseI saw an amazing place with beautiful houses. And the location of the village was amazing to me seeing it from the top of the mountain. The old materials and pictures that were kept in a room to remember how the village was, make me notice a great change that occur within a short period of time. The promotion of tea cultivation and commercialization in the village, which later boost the income of the villagers inspired me greatly on how to put more effort and value on what you have or can do in aim to get what you want to make life better. I really appreciate the dynamism put in place to cause a change in  Junying village. They call it village, but i call it Mountain City. I reallyenjoy the trip.

I learnt some lessons during my visit to Junying Village from Xi jinping and the villagers. The lessons learnt from Xi Junping are:

1. He was a leader that has the people at heart

2. He was a leader that has a goal for the people, and the goal was to bring them out of poverty

3. He was committed to the progress of their economic and social growth and that was why he went back to visit again to see their improvement and to give recommendation on how to improve their standard of living.

4. He was a leader that did not have a shallow or limited mind. His mind was wide and deep to see the attraction that would come from planting around the mountains.
